UX/UI Design

Maxon’s extensive portfolio of motors and drive systems presents a high level of technical complexity. The goal of this project was to create an e-commerce experience that translates this complexity into clarity — enabling engineers to find, compare, and select the right products efficiently. At the core of the solution was a powerful search and filtering experience, tailored to the mental models of engineers. With a large number of technical parameters, filters needed to be precise, logically structured, and easy to understand at a glance. To ensure consistency, scalability, and long-term maintainability, the interface was built on a modular design system. Reusable components, clear interaction patterns, and defined UI standards allowed the platform to scale alongside maxon’s growing product portfolio, while maintaining a coherent user experience across all touchpoints.
Creating an intuitive e-commerce experience for a highly complex product portfolio. Engineers needed a fast and precise search and filtering solution to efficiently navigate countless motors and technical parameters and reach the right product with confidence.
To quickly align on the project goals, we worked closely with Maxon’s development team and stakeholders from the start. We conducted user research and tested early concepts with engineers to identify pain points in search and filtering workflows. Insights from these sessions informed iterative design improvements, ensuring the system was both precise and intuitive. The final solution was validated through user testing with engineers, confirming that the search and filtering experience allowed them to efficiently find, compare, and select the right products.
